Learned that you should find the polarizing sweet spot on the Nd filters before you put them on. Adjusted while drone was on and got the gimbal motor overload.

Is that just a warning or does a single occurrence mess things up? Lessoned learned.

It's a warning. Be careful while handling the gimbal when the Mav is turned on.

Won’t do it again. Thought I’d adjust the polar pros while on. Better I see to dial the polarization in before putting on.

Wanted to make sure it’s not damaged but thought it’s like a warning to say stop messing with it

In reality how delicate is that gimbal? I fear touching it but it looks better than the pro.

How much handling can these take

The gimbal is delicate, although it is more durable than any SLR. Try dropping your SLR from 3 feet and see what happens.

Just as any camera, it is not designed to be roughed up. Examples of abuse include but are not limited to rapidly yawing 360°, hover to wide open throttle, and snap braking. They will all take a toll on the gimbal motor assembly. It's a sensitive, gyro aided gimbal designed to make your picture as stable as possible. Treating it like a 3d heli will only cause your gimbal to become unstable over the long run. To me, the Mavic is not only a drone, but a flying camera platform.

Some pilots fly WOT, pull g's with their birds, and then wonder why their gimbal doesnt stabilize. Treat her like a lady, or a Fabergé egg.

I'll get off of my soapbox now. Rant is over. ;)

For sure. I mean just basic handling when changing lenses. I don’t do the crazy flying.

Ya I think they are tested to take some abuse but obviously when the drone is on, the motor is easy to overload.

A single occurrence should not damage it. Lots of people do this.

Maybe attach something like a ribbon to the gimbal lock so you always remember to remove it in the future.

It wasn’t the gimbal cover. I was adjusting the polar pro Nd polarized lens while it was on. That fiddling gave em the error. I just marked the lens now setup while the drone is off.
