Gimball problem

My camera boots up and goes through check then points downward. It does not allow the controller to do any movements other than zoom. There is a statement on my DJI Pilot App that says "dji gimbal vision needs to restart." In the menu is has a line that says Gimbal Status and has restarting in red next to it. I have tried looking for a solution on forums, but no luck. thanks

I don't know every cause for this but am told by a repair expert that it can be the ribbon cable. Those are really tricky to replace. You have three options:

1. replace the ribbon cable for about $10 and four hours of frustration. The cable is to be bent back over in two places and then fed through a slot. Not easy but some have learned this. The YT vids on this don't reveal much.

2. Replace the gimbal with a used gimbal. This is what I did. The caveat: most used gimbals don't work- about 10% of them pass the test when harvested from a crashed drone. Anita from Fix-A-Crash told me about 90% of her harvested gimbals don't work, so now she simply does the next point.

3. Buy a new camera/gimbal assembly. $240 but then you get a new gimbal and a spare camera. Bummer but there it is.

There may be a less smarter way to do this, but that's my recent experience. FWIW; my second used gimbal has been working perfectly- $56 and it was a free replacement for the first used one that quit working in about two weeks.
