Goggles - no cushion on nose bridge

Just got my goggles today. Is there truly no cushion on the part that goes over your nose?? Mine is hard as a rock and it's not very comfortable. I also have some slight light leakage there (others have mentioned this also). It seems to me that even a small amount of cushion here would've eliminated the light leak as well as made the goggles fit far more comfortably.

I also noticed that the dial that controls the size of the band that goes over your head doesn't seem to hold the band open for me... it keeps collapsing back down as I unwind it. Luckily it seems to cinch down and hold well so I'm wondering if mine is defective or is it that way by design?
