got stuck in a tree today

Or better yet, don't take off directly beneath a tree, regardless of the control mode chosen. You might steer clear of the tree on takeoff, but if the flight ends with RTH, you'll have a serious problem.
RTH avoids trees and uses optimal path planning on the air3s, and i take off there all the time. I just left it in sport mode lol.

I rarely fly my drones in sport mode so it only makes sense for me not to take off in sport mode. I always fly my FPV drones in sport mode so most of the time I either switch to sport mode on the ground or right after take off. Different roles.

After our performance on the cricket field I am glad to see not all Australians walk on water! I have done the same as you did but mine got stuck up a tree right at the top and a cherry picker was required plus a few quid too!

I learnt to avoid trees the hard way, in my early years of rc model flying. Now, I can usually take off and land on even a very narrow strip or path without aid of a gyro or any such device, rudder is your friend. It used to be a lot harder for me due to lack of depth perception (good vision in one eye, other one got damaged in self infflicted accident) however my brain adjusted over seveal years, although not perfect, its pretty good.

Yeah...Been there, done that! Not fun. At least, your drone was on and provided us with a play-by-play! Glad you got it down!
