Video was very well done for those attending, but much too long with many static shots, for a general audience.

I'm surprised you got permission to fly over the crowds at this event (which I assume you did). It looked to me that you worked hard to avoid hovering over the audience or grads, but at times it looked unavoidable to pass over people.

I'd also be careful posting a video using what I assume is commercial music you don't have permission to use (I could be wrong). For your own use, and sharing with friends (who won't repost it on the open web) that might be fine but giving it to everyone at the school wouldn't be wise.

I appreciate the critique.
I understand about the length but you should see what I cut out. :D

Never flew over the crowds.
I am well practiced at that.
I do not want anyone to get hurt.

YouTube has become very lenient to copyrighted material.
The following note was attached to my video in my management area:
"Copyrighted content was found in your video.
The claimant is allowing their content to be used in your YouTube video. However, ads might appear on it."

I just can't monetize the video.
The copyright holder receives the monies.

I have found that so long as there is not a dispute involving the song, group or band members and other entities as to who receives the royalties, the song is allowed use.
In the past 4 years of flying and producing videos I have never received a "copyright strike" from YouTube.
At worst, I get a message "Your audio has been blocked in 248 countries".
Then I just delete, choose another song and repost.

Cool! I've never tried posting such videos to YouTube, good hint. Nice job flying away from people.

Next time run a camera or sound recorder at ground level and match the two. I imagine the participants will be well pleased with your coverage.

Only problem with that, 10 second clips would just be a blur of sound.
However, I tried to sync the school song and fight song at the end.
The kids rushed the school song and the band played it at a different tempo than what I had on file.
But as I was drawing away, the fight song was perfect if you watch the 3 senior conductors leading the band.

your point taken with the band duly in sync. But I imagine when they threw their hats there was a cheer? Nothing beats actuality for whatever duration. No criticism intended.

All good - I appreciate the critique.
This is only my 4th year flying so I learn as I go.
I did do that for the final JROTC yell.
FSGT recorded the yell while I got the overhead.
Waiting on him to forward that video so I can split the audio.

Might just do that next year Thumbswayup

I think you did a great job of keeping your distance from the people and the event so there weren't a lot of heads turning and focus on your Mavic Air.
We are evolving into new ways of capturing moments like these and I think you did it respectfully.
