Air 3 Granite

An exposure of granite on the Uncompahgre Plateau in western Colorado, site of a series of Cold War blast tests conducted by the Department of Defense (ca 1948-52). The tests were apparently conducted to determine the seismic properties of granite before the excavation of NORAD's Cheyenne Mountain complex near Colorado Springs.
