The Great Alpine Road is the name given to the West Coast Road, which connects the East and West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. There's plenty to film, but very restrictive rules on drones. It's possible to get a permit to fly in some of the nature reserves - it takes patience, numerous emails, filling out forms (signed and witnessed) and $NZ60. Arthur's Pass National Park was no go, as was Castle Hill (quite crowded). Parks people were friendly and helpful. Fortunately the people at the farmstay were happy to have aerial pictures of their property - and were thrilled to be given all footage!
