Hand launch with RC Pro 2

Hand launching an M4P is like looking for trouble, an accident waiting to happen...
As I stated above, it comes with risks and would hate to see anyone else to get hurt, hence I posted a disclaimer to do this absolutely at your own risk. I've been hand launching/landing my M4P ever since, as I mentioned above, I found this auto-launch (utilizing this C1 button) much more graceful/forgiving; it is actually the hand landing that, many times, gives me those scary situations. But, all this in ABSOLUTELY no wind situations.

I normally don't post these but today I saw this video and I have to say....to me, it's disturbing. Watch it before they take it down; not surprised the comments were turned off. No disrespect but how could be you be so stupid and reckless to fire up a full-size drone propellers only a few inches from your face? With that sort of carelessness for yourself, I can imagine about flying drones near other people. You are just one small mistake from losing an eye, the propellers from a M4P will completely slice off the tip of your nose in an instant or pluck out an eyeball leaving you totally blind for the rest of your life. How could someone be that ignorant of the danger?

Watch the video and in a separate incident someone posted these photos (apologies for the graphic visual) of the fight someone lost trying to be cool while handing a drone; instead of letting it land somewhere on the vast concrete pavement that's all over because there a bit of gravel or land on the nicely cut fresh acres of grass....get a landing pad. I won't even go near my drone if I don't have to when it's landing and taking off because I've seen these things go berserk when something goes wrong and I don't want to be there when it happens.

Don't do it; it's not worth it.

I honestly do not get people like this. He could have easily and safely landed the drone on the ground without risking a serious injury by trying to hand catch. When I see video like this it simply beggars belief.

These people have no idea. Some of us here, having operated machinery, working in industries, operating large lawn mowers, snow blowers, agriculture equipment etc. etc. have reason to be cautious at work, at home, with hobbies etc.

Having flown rc planes for over five decades, I've learnt to be extremely careful. Apart from a bunch of smaller gas and electric planes, my favorites are flying 2meter pattern planes, each equipped with a YS-140L 4S power plant, I fly 16x8 or 15x10 propellers. The size and regidity of glass filled nylon propellers driven by those powerful engines, need extreme respect. As many of you modelers are already aware. we use solid restraints on the ground while starting from the front either by spinning the prop by hand (using a chicken finger) or a huge starter which is a lot safer. We exercise extreme caution while adjusting throttle needle often just behind the turning prop. Theres no room for error, a 16x9 prop running at 10-13000 rpm would take your hand right off, resulting in an extemely serious injury. Do accidents occur? Of course they do but we try and minimize them. I have a couple of scars on my right wrist and hand from minor accidents with smaller engines, from 40 years ago.
