Hi guys
I can’t understand why my controller reports I believe incorrectly the height of my Mavic Mini. I’ve not as yet done many flights, weather conditions have been poor since I purchased at the beginning of July and I’m very new to flying. On a flight this evening my controller reported 18 feet height when I imagine I was really about 40/60 feet.
Am I doing something wrong for the controller to report such a big error or should I calibrate in some way.
Thanks ?

Are you sure it was showing feet? 18 meters equals 59 feet.

in the settings you can choose either metric or imperial for displaying you values just check you have the one you want i think it starts in metric when you first download the app or do an update

It displays the height above your recorded Home Position, not above ground. If you take off from the top of a 60 ft cliff and fly straight out over the edge, the height will still display zero, not the actual 60' to the bottom of the cliff. Is that what's happening here?

Hi
No I’ve checked a number of times now and it doesn’t record any resemblance of what it should be, it’s very strange. I may delete the app re install and see if that makes any difference. I am confused.com ?
But I must say I’m really impressed with the Mavic Mini. For years I’ve tried to master helicopters, without success, my brain doesn’t function and many is the time I’ve been first at the flying field and going home with my helicopter in bits before the other fliers have arrived. But this device is so easy to fly ( until I crash it ) I just love it. I’m an old guy 70 years old so a little slow these days.
Thank you guys for your help, god bless you all keep safe.

@Jaflonpink you could just be unlucky and have a faulty barometer in the drone, also have you checked that the downwards facing sensors are clean and the little camera lens does not have a small piece of pull off plastic still covering it

Hey! I'm 69! You're not old, and you're staying young by doing what you're doing. Keep on goin'. ?

Deleting the app won't make any difference.
The app just repeats what the drone's sensors are showing.

The height displayed comes from a barometric sensor and measures changes in air pressure.
It's quite sensitive and can tell differences of less than 1ft.
But air pressure changes over time and it's common to see differences of several feet between launch and landing.

Next time watch the drone at the start and see how well the app seems to be showing its height.
If you are commonly seeing a launch/land difference of >10 ft, that might be improved by recalibrating the IMU.
