Hi Oconnb910, we are a group of university students (IT - computer engineering) who are working on a collaboration project called WikDrone

It is a social network dedicated to the drones world. The idea is to create a database so that we can all freely value our drones and accessories and share our experience with the community.

If you like the project and want to lend a hand, it would be very helpful. What do you think of the idea? Do you have any suggestions? Something to change, add or improve? Do you like the initiative? Thank you very much for your help, we have worked hard on it , we hope you like it

Of course lertsek! this site (mavicpilots.com) is unique and unmatched! (a million visits per month and thousands of expert users!!! )

We just want to contribute a little, add value to the drone world, provide another tool for droners, just that, we do not want to offend or bother anyone, Thanks for answering! regards

do you expect that people will think more positively of your site? Why not just go with Wiki or think of something original?
And as lertsek said in post # 5.. isn't that what this site is? A forum which has been around for a very long time with a bunch of guys who have proven themselves and are valuable members of this forum with lots of respect from everyone.

Well, let me tell you that we first decided RankDron, and we kept it for a year, but we were not convinced. A professor from the university proposed us to change it for WikDrone and we liked it a lot. Simply that is the story. We do not understand why it bothers you so much

And as lertsek said in post # 5.. isn't that what this site is? A forum which has been around for a very long time with a bunch of guys who have proven themselves and are valuable members of this forum with lots of respect from everyone.

I have a right to ask questions, you come on one forum to promote another startup forum
It raises red flags for me, I am always cautious about websites, or companies that choose names that are close to established entities.
I am just asking simple questions, not my intention to discourage you or anyone else, people can make their own decisions. I am just operating on my experiences, which has worked well for me so far.

I think it is a good idea. One reason is that only 70% of drones are DJI, this is reaching out to 100% of drone users.
A couple of suggestions: 1) It is great you are university based - you will get alot of good effort in building the site. Remember to open it up for others, retirees or adults without kids at home anymore have free time to be moderators, etc.. 2) Active moderators on the site are key. I think MavicPilots is very good in keeping discussions on topic without excessive profanity, politics, etc.. There is a fine line, personally I think complanting about a FAA regulation is ok to discuss but I don't want to know who you voted for in the 2016 election.

Thank you very much for your response and help Bob4131! We're glad you like the idea. Yes, a lot of effort, 3 years and more than 100,000 lines of code, and we still have a lot to improve! 1) and 2) very much in agreement. We want WikDrone to be a place for everyone, where there is respect among users and we can all enjoy the hobby. Regards
