Hey everyone!

Been interested in DJI drones for a couple years now but never had the money to buy one until now. So I ordered myself a Mavic Mini fly more combo a a few weeks ago and it arrived last Thursday. I've been really enjoying it so far and captured some pretty nice photos(I attached them below). I found this forum a week or so ago and thought "Hey, why not? It'd be fun to connect with some other Mavic Pilots that share the same interest as me." So here I am!

I hope to learn a lot here and looking forward to meeting all you Mavic Pilots out there!!

Jeremy

Welcome to our forum, CrazyFast, from Hauptmann who flies the friendly skies of Texas!

Your photos show what a great camera platform the Mini is! You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual (link below), and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress, and under less than ideal conditions. We have over 100,000 members from around the world--including many in Maine, and elsewhere in New England--who will help you learn your new hobby! Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!

Thank you for the advice! I have read the manual twice so far and I think I understand how to use it now.

Also, a little bit more about my self.

I've been in the RC hobby since I was 8 years old and have flown multiple different RC planes, drones, helicopters, boats and trucks. Most of them were toy grade so the Mavic Mini is my first "professional" grade drone(I guess I can call it professional, although it is designed for general aerial photography).

Just out of curiosity, how many of you fly RC airplanes as well?

Also, if you haven't done so yet, consider getting the AirMap and KittyHawk apps. I also suggest this Visualize it: See FAA UAS Data on a Map
