Any tips on confirming orientation of the mini;the graphic in the lower section of the screen is not reliable;at the moment the way I’m confirming orientation is by viewing screen/camera;as there are no lights on forward wings is it worth putting high viz stickers to assist when “in view”;any tips welcome-thank you(my first drone!!!)

I suggest using multi-colored strobes. Unfortunately to save weight DJI omitted the front LED's. High vis stickers don't do much good at a distance, the drone is just too small, especially around dawn / dusk, the drone tends to disappear.

You can get some nice all-in-one strobe units in the UK from Flytron
We make strobe mounts for the Mavic Mini, we ship Internationally, you can find them on our website HERE

I would echo Aerial-Pixel, LED's will improve visibility (orientation). I fly with a single cree LED attached with vecro to the battery door. A quick 360 and I can spot it.

can you show a picture of the led you use or a link where it can be purchased?

Am I right in thinking that fitting lights mean it then needs to be registered?
I would think anything that takes the mini over 250 grams would mean it needs to be registered. If you are in the US, it cost 5 dollars for a recreational registration which is worth it just for the peace of mind. And keep in mind you are not registering the AC, you are registering yourself.

Since you asked, sure: Firehouse LED
I fly them on my Mavic Air and my MM. They are lightweight and USB rechargeable.
BTW: As mentioned above, it will obviously put you above 250g. I have been registered and I fly with them, a skin (covering) and landing gear at a flying weight of 275.

Yes adding just about anything to the Mavic Mini will require you to register it. Our strobe mounts are under 4 grams each and the strobe are around 8 grams (more or less depending on which strobe you go with) but yes you'd be over 250g at that point.

I fly my MM with 1 Firehouse Arc II velcroed to lower battery door. In this configuration it is slightly angling down.
Very bright and easily visible in day light.

My smaller FireHouse LED is mounted on the rear battery door, just a bit higher. While my LED is visible, I like your angle and presume your velcro is not covering USB and SD slot. I like that your LED is protecting the ports from exposure. Thanks for sharing. MM back w LED.jpg MM back with velcro.jpg

Hi. Don't put stickers on. Believe it or not. It will put you over the 250 grms

Are these high visibility reflective decals? Not that having them on top would provide much visibility to me on the ground, but with a flashlight, it may help in finding a downed drone.
No, I keep them strictly vinyl, the High vis vinyl has a foil in it which isn't good for the GPS signal. I experimented with it a while ago, the satellite count and signal strength wasn't as good. The silver and gold metallic we offer is still vinyl based so it doesn't have any issues.
