I’m looking at purchasing a previously owned MP that’s about 18 mo old. I asked the owner about hours and miles flown and he said he didn’t know. Doesn’t the app keep track of that you info or other data about batteries?

Yes, it does.
Look in the Flight Records page of the app (on the phone or tablet he's been using to fly with).
