If you look closely you might see the cable between the controller and your tablet.
The Mavic connects to the tablet with radio and the tablet is connected to that.
GPS only provides location data to the Mavic and wifi doesn't enter the equation.

The video feed from the Drone is transmitted to the Remote Control unit via DJI designed OccuSync at different frequencies depending on local interference. The tablet gets that signal directly from the remote control unit via cable connection.

Of course it's possible to fly the Mavic Pro using only a mobile device such as a phone or tablet - in that case wi-fi is used to transmit the video but range is greatly limited compared to OccuSync.
