I can't seem to find any information on how to do this, but i hear it mentioned a ton of times...

When you takeoff the Mavic, I know that the Mavic automatically sets the point after IMU goes green...

However, people say that they manually set the homepoint as an added safeguard, everytime after takeoff... How exactly do i set the homepoint manually after takeoff???

Thanks!

Home point settings that are a little 'hidden'. Swipe left from the camera view will bring up options to set your home point to the Mavic, or to You (note: the controller does not have GPS, and relies on your phone/tablet for this feature).

Search through the PDF manual for "Home Point" and "RTH" to find all the relevant settings and explanations!

Hope that helped. Happy flying

If you always verify the home point has been marked on the map in DJI GO, there is no need to manually set it again.

I just check mine on the map and make sure it's accurate. I won't even spin up the motors until I've had a good GPS lock for at least several seconds.

Also, if you set it manually after takeoff, your Mavic won't be able to use Precision Landing in the case of an RTH.

If you want to use the precision landing feature, the key is to take off and ascend straight up for 30+ feet. You do not have to hover in place at any point.

"Set Hompoint" after takeoff... Redundant or Good Idea?
As mentioned earlier normally not necessary.
However It as an excellent idea to do this if you change your own location while a flight is in progress. I often walk hundreds of metres, following the drones progress along a riverbank or some such. In the event of a hiccup I would generally want it to return to me and not the original home point. This also has the benefit of deferring the RTH trigger too. I am invariably between the Mavic and the original Homepoint, thus reducing the distance Home. So every few minutes when I am walking across a good landing spot I update the home point to me.
This is an easy thing to overlook.
