I don't know how much cross pollination this forum has with the official DJI Mavic 4 forums so I thought I would post this here too. I'm posting it in General rather than Photos/Videos because the content is really about the discoveries and technique than the videos.
The first discovery is that Hyperlapse Waypoint mode does not have the concept of "point of interest".
The second discovery has been reported in another thread but I didn't know it at the time. With the inteval between frames set to one second, the slowest shutter you can manually pick is 1/8s. If you allow the shutter to float (Auto), then in my case it picked 1/6.25s which was too dark. I had calculated things to use 1/2s.
The third discovery is if the time between frames is set to two seconds, then the shutter can be set to one second and, if I recall correctly, even slower. I think I recall 1.5. I will try and check it out and update this post.
I would love to use Hyperlapse Circle mode (or is it called Orbit?) but the third parameter is speed and I would rather have the percentage of a circle the drone will make during the hyperlaps. For example, I want a full circle completed during the hyperlaps. So, I used Hyperlaps Waypoint mode and set five way points with the first and last being very close together. It seems as you set way points, the existing way points do not show up on the map or the display.
I used an ND filter. The method I used was to fly the drone with the first battery without a filter and set up all my way points and save the mission. While doing this, I had my ISO fixed at ISO 100 and aperture fixed at f/11. I noted the shutter speed during this time.
I created this chart and picked the ND filter to give me 1/2s shutter because I was going to pause one second between frames. The result was ND32 on this particular occasion. In the first example, I took off and flew the mission. I don't recall when I noticed but the shutter was not at 1/2s but at 1/6.25s (as mentioned above). The result is the first video which is clearly under exposed. Its "Mini World" version is posted as well. I think that is a really cute effect.
For the second flight, I was going to fix the shutter and allow one of the other parameters float (auto adjust) but discovered that the lowest shutter I could manually pick was 1/8s. For whatever reason, I happen to switch to one frame every two seconds and to my surprised, the system allowed me to pick a shutter of 1s. So... I allowed the aperture to float and fixed ISO at 100 and that resulted in the second post along with its "Mini World" version.
