I want a drone that can:

1. Launch and land from a moving vehicle (speed to be determine, but up to 20 mph)
2. The flight and operational spec must be similar to the Mavic Pro 1
3. Switchable ATTI / GPS.
4. Open source programming for the hardware / OS

You might be thinking what I have in mind. A self programming home security drone that can be automated to launch from roof tops. A drone that can be launch from a moving vehicle to look ahead. I'm sure you can think of a few more innovative ways to use current technology to accomplish what you want to do.

I want these drones for under $1000 too:

Yes, sir. For under $1000. These ideas are not new, and the technology is cheap enough that it can be done for $1000 based on certain number of production. And with an open source OS and hardware, it is possible. Other idea and links do you have?

To Mike, some people are tall, rich, and handsome. More and more every day. Be realistic and don't see yourself "short."

Ok, Realistically you could DIY it with open source projects like this:

There’s a lot of information on the Ardupilot.org website about DIYing your own inexpensive drone using open source firmware and hardware.
