In honor and memory of Grace (late family pet)

I feel like making a post to honor and remember our, recently lost, family pet, Grace. She passed away some time the early morning of Saturday 8 JAN 2022.

Here she was as a "baby" (the breeder had assigned a name, that we changed to Grace [actually named after Grace Kelly]).




And while I could share a million photos (I do tend to take a lot of pictures), I will keep it down to some of the most recent..!





We actually had four, and have been slowly losing them. Grace was the last standing one we had. She almost made it to 4 (she was ~3.5 when she passed). There was, Star, Ally, Phoenix, and Grace. Grace and Ally were sisters, Star and Phoenix were sisters, and the two pairs were cousins!

For anyone who doesn't know, rats actually make GREAT pets... They're REALLY smart and trainable too. The only real down-side, is how short their life-span is! They have a max life expectancy of 3~4 years (and most succumb to some of their common health issues by 2 years of age)! They are VERY social too (which is why you should never own just one, it is recommended to always have no less than two).

Grace was one of the best, and she is now no longer among us... May she Rest In Peace!!!

Sorry for your loss. Regardless of what kind of pet you have that crosses over, we bond with them on levels that words can't accurately describe or define. Losing them always burns like fire and we seem to lose a part of us. Take solace in knowing that you gave them the best life possible and cherish the memories.

We have a boatload of furred & feathered family. We've lost a number of them in recent years and it never gets easier. In fact, I find it actually becomes more difficult in dealing with the loss.

Currently, we have 6 goats, 1 goose, 2 rabbits, and an undisclosed number (think of more than any normal person would ever dream of) of cat rescues that we share our lives with. I can't imagine being without them..........
