I purchased a new unused Mavic from one of the forum members on the classified section. it was unused but the box had been opened, my question is can I purchase the Refresh Care policy for this Mavic even though I bought it from a private party. The seller said he ordered 2 Mavics at the same time but only wanted to keep one. I have not yet tried to power it up or fly it and was told By another owner I would not be able to buy the Refresh coverage even though it's new. What is the policy here.

Technically, I think DJI Care Refresh is limited to first owner from an authorized DJI dealer. However, if it has never been activated, you may be able to sign up for it without trouble. If it was activated, you would have to provide a "proof video" showing the unit is in working condition before you can sign up.
While I understand the logic of the "proof video" it is pretty annoying. As a part of the proof demonstration, first-time fliers have to fly their un-insured aircraft hundreds of feet away from them before they can even sign up for the policy.

DJI posts their official policies on their official website. While there may be a DJI employee or two who visit this forum, the forum not run by the DJI company.
Being new to this stuff, I'm afraid if I had to make a Proof video the gravity of the situation might make the issue moot. I have had very poor luck trying get anyone at DJI to answer my customer service questions, they just write back and say they will respond to my question ASAP, they never have, but they asked me in a separate email how I liked my customer service experience ? What customer service ? It's like I'm in a foreign country or something.........

Get the original receipt from whoever you bought it from. When I had to use my Refresh I had to provide my original proof of purchase.
