I’m getting back into drone flying after a couple of years absence with the Mavic Pro 2. Next week, I’m expecting delivery of the new Air 3s.

I’m trying to figure out the video storage setup. Previously, I stored most of my recordings on a microSD card located on the drone itself. With the Air 3s, I see there’s no microSD slot on the drone; instead, the microSD card is on the RC 2 controller, and both the controller and the drone have internal storage, though with smaller capacities. This is different from older controllers, which didn’t have any storage.

Could someone explain how video recordings are saved—whether to internal storage or the microSD card on the controller? Are there any differences between saving to the drone’s internal storage versus the controller? Thanks!

What's the best microSD card for the DJI Air 3S?

Screen recordings (videos of whatever you see on the screen including drone data, warning messages, etc).
There is also internal memory to which those are saved by default. The microSD card slot is for memory expansion, and can be used to copy off files stored internally, such as the Flight Logs.
