iPad recommendations

I'm thinking of going with a used iPad 4. This maybe a dumb question, but does the iPad need to be able to get a data plan to be able to get maps and stuff? Thanks in advanced!

No need for a data plan, you can cache your maps from wifi, my apologies I thought you meant iPad mini 4.

If you're referring to a 4th generation iPad, it's not compatible with DJI GO. You should use an Apple device from this list instead.

No. You can cache the maps in DJI GO ahead of time like this. You could also tether your iPad to a phone to share the Internet connection.

So if I am away from wifi safe to say maps will not work?
My biggest concern is the ability to see the where I am in relation from the drone on the little screen on the bottom left.
Where you see the yellow line that shows the exactly how to fly back.

Is it an iPad 4 or iPad mini 4 as msinger stated an iPad 4 will not work.

You can cache your maps as msinger posted a link, are you getting the wifi version or the cell version?

Just got the iPad mini 4. Really amazing (since I had been using iPhone 7 until now). What makes it work especially well is the PGY iPad sunshade that I use. Since brightness is the only weakness of the iPad, this sunshade is ideal!
