While looking for something else, these ancient field boundaries were noticed for the first time ever - due to the field being drought stressed..
Planning to do a more thorough set of photos to record them properly.
On the ground you can't see anything at all.

They continue into at least one further modern field.
Small farmsteads became widespread as patches of forests were cleared from about 4000BC
They would have been growing little plots of Rye and Oats and (like now) hay for winter animal feed.

That is so wonderful! In the area I grew up in the Netherlands, there are many traces of stone age inhabitation as well (especially burial mounds). It always makes me feel so humble and connected whenever I encounter these ancient remnants!

That is interesting. You can clearly see a grid-like pattern emerging. Cool!
