is a compatible 5,8Ghz mobile device nessassary for the mavic Pro?

hello folks,
i have an old xiaomi redmi note 4 which i have used with my spark, it worked only with an otg cable cause the xiaomi phone did not recognize the 5,8ghz wifi of the spark controller..
within the app, i could only choose within the 2,4 Channels, i did not see any 5,8 ghz channels..now i have a mavic pro which has occusing... is there also a problem with the mavic pro using this device or is it not relevant for occusing that it do not support the 5,8 ghz frequenzy? i tested it allready 2 times indoors with the mavic pro and it seems to work but is there any limitation on flying and signal issues which i have to be aware...does anyone know that?

@Jeytea the device is connected to the RC by a cable the 5.8 or 2.4 is just between the RC and the drone the device has to be powerful enough to run the app
