Thanks, I'm not trying anything physical on them just yet. I saw information somewhere that said if you plug it in without the cube adapter and leave it in for 48 hours, it might revive it. As I said mine wasn't totally dead, it just wouldn't charge. And I have since seen a video that shows it is clearly a software problem. And that it's fixable if you're willing to take it apart. What it has done so far is completely discharged my battery to where there's nothing lighting up at any time. I'm guessing if it gets to a certain point it might completely reset itself and start over. But when the LEDs were so faint they were barely visible, it was clear that the microcontroller inside was still doing its thing. The voltage threshold on those LEDs is probably around 1.5. For all I know the microcontroller might have an even lower threshold of operation. I have moved it outside on the sidewalk under roof after watching the one safety video posted here on the forum.
