Is it worth getting an iPad mini 4

Hi folks, so flying is becoming increasingly frustrating and I had a couple of close calls yesterday... Luckily, the only casualty was a couple of props.

I have an iPad mini2 and sometimes within 5mins of switching everything on, I get the "CPU overload" message and the feed becomes extremely choppy/lagging. This makes it impossible to frame shots and all and when on a job, this is embarrassing and expensive.

Will upgrading to a mini4 help? I've seen threads where those with mini4s are also complaining about this but not sure.
The mini2 is a dedicated device so I only have drone related apps on it.

Cheers

I have been using dedicated ipad mini 4 for few flights now and it is attached to the controller all the time. I turned on 'do not disturb' and turned off all notification and working pretty good. As I type this, it is updating the new OS and have to check if everything is still ok.

I have a mini 4 with out having any problems. Talk to colinfowler and see how he has his mini 2 set up and see if that fixes your problem. also do a search on CPU overload. This issue has be discussed to death, both here and on the phantom forum

Yes, I've seen all the threads! I think one of them is even mine. But this is not about the cpu overload issue! This is about seeking opinions if the mini2 is still capable of being used as a dedicated device providing a smooth experience or not.

I did mention that it's used as a dedicated device and ONLY drone related apps are on it... Go4, polar pro app, uav forecast, and I think this forum app. I've carried out all the recommendations from ALL the "discussed to death" threads and from what I can gather, there's nothing conclusive that "do this, and your iPad will run smoothly"
I'm sure I mentioned or at least implied this in my original post.

From what I can conclude, the main culprit is heat! If the ambient temp is above say 80*F, or it's sunny, then you'll most likely have this issue. But I know it's still not conclusive.
This thread is basically asking if the mini4 can handle a slightly higher operating temperature before throttling back the cpu compared to the mini2.
So I'm hoping to get an answer from someone that's upgraded and found it to be so, or not.
Cheers

Edit: guess I should mention also that I'm on the latest version of everything (fw, os...)

iv had no problems with mini 2.
its dedicated so uninstalled everything and cache maps at home.
Thanks for the reply! What's the specs of yours? (wifi only? 16gb?)
Also, what's the typical ambient temperature range of the area you fly in?

Cheers
