Issues with cable from remote to phone

Hello all!!! Any one have issues with the connecting cable from the controller to their phone? I only have a few flights under my belt and so far I have been very pleased. One thing that bugs the crap out of me is the way I have to connect my phone to the controller. First I have to remove my phone from its case, then mess with the little slide on the controller to get the cable in the right spot. Usually I end up popping the little plastic slider square out of the controller handle. Seems like a PITA!!!

I'm assuming that I might be doing something wrong. Any advice? Wondering if I can still connect my phone to the mavic without the cable to the controller? Main issue I have is getting my phone locked solid in the controller while still keeping the cable connected. I seem to pinch the cable in a few spots while getting my phone fully seated in the controller handles. Also that handles cover my home button. Is there a way to get the app to auto launch when connected to the controller?

I attached a longer Lightning cable to the bottom USB port and clamped my iPhone 7 into the remote controller like this. You could also remove the little plastic slider and feed the cable through the remote controller arm.

Thanks, didn't know you could use the USB at the bottom of the controller.

Any idea if there is a setting to auto launch the dji app when connected? I thought I saw somewhere that the android app does that not sure about iPhone.

Can you scrap the cord all together or not?

No, you cannot auto launch DJI GO on an Apple device.

You must either connect a cable on the side or bottom of the remote controller. Make sure you only plug in one cable at a time.
