Magic Mini, first flight. My first time to fly. Calibrated compass, IMU, gimbel. Set RTH to 150` and when initiated RTH it did not go up to 150 ft and landed about 15' from home, even though I had updated home and checked nimble. At one point during calibration it said Sensor Error, so I redid calibrations on IMU and compass then every thing appeared ok and no sensor. Took off and flew great, battery down to 8 minutes, landed but did not rise to designated height and landed about 15' away from home. New battery, reset home and same thing happened on second and last flight.

New to HOBBY, very first flight. Any suggestions soon what I am not doing right?

Appreciate any thoughts. I may get addicted to this if I'm not careful. DRONE flew great. Flew only in Cinematic this outing.

Thanks

How far horizontally from the Home Point were you when you initiated RTH?

That was no doubt the issue Jim, and now you know there is no issue with your copter. Definitely read that manual. Even though the Mini is somewhat simple compared to other DJI systems, it is still complex. Welcome to the hobby. It’s tons of fun! Enjoy!!

So repeat the process and fly out further (500’) to confirm everything is working as it should.

@xterior67 Below you have some other advice's I recommend in another thread that you should follow as a rookie Mini pilot ...

I would like to have the manual you mentioned. How do I get one.

Thank you

Where can I get a copy of these instructions?
Hi there again @xterior67 ... those tips aren't any official DJI steps to avoid loosing your new Mavic Mini, I wrote them down to another Gentleman that wanted to know the proper approach when new to drones & particular the Mini.

Scroll up to my post with the compilation of "common sense" tips
Left click on the compilation picture in the post
Then right click on fully opened compilation
Chose " Save image as..." in the popup dialog window
Decide were to download it to your computer.

Then I urge you to download the full user manual ... you have links to it in both my first post and in Thomas B's.

Then let go of your Mini for a while ... & read!
Performing an "try & error" approach without any previous theoretical knowledge is the best way for you to lose it.

Good luck with your reading and flying ... hope I don't see you over in the Mavic Crash & Flyaway Assistance section in this forum :D ;)
