Took this this morning in a 13 MPH wind with my Mavic Air.

Mark, I launched from the parking lot next to Gators on the Treasure Island side and flew to Johns Pass from there. I also did it at 8:45 am on a weekday so there was little traffic. Other than the normal FAA restrictions, I don't know of any restrictions. However, Pinellas County doesn't allow drones to fly to or from any county parks or recreation locations. See below:
“Pinellas County, FL Code of Ordinances, Chapter 90, PARKS AND CONSERVATION RESOURCES, Sec. 90-7 - Activities within county-owned or managed lands, (q) Aircraft. No person operating, directing, or responsible for any airplane, helicopter, drone, glider, hang glider, hot air balloon, dirigible, parachute or other aerial apparatus, including those radio controlled or otherwise unmanned, shall take off from or land in or on any county-owned or managed land, except for purposes of public safety or where written permission has been obtained from the administrator or designee.”
It's not always obvious what is a county park or recreation land. Good Luck. I will say one thing, in Florida the sun is so bright I ended up getting a Crystal Sky monitor. My iPad and iPhone 8 didn't cut it for me. Good Luck and enjoy your trip.
