The Potala Palace is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century, symbolizes Tibetan Buddhism and its central role in the traditional administration of Tibet. The White Palace is the dwelling place for Dalai Lama, and in the Red Place houses the Tower Tombs of each previous Dalai Lama. Each tomb is “tower” shaped, covered in the outside by thousands of embedded diamonds, jewels and precious stones.

Random comments. Nice film of the Potala Palace. I always look for a puddle or two for reflection shots too. My wife and I were there many, many years ago. It does not seem to have changed. I'm almost certain that if you put a drone up in the air you would be in big trouble.

Yes drone flights are strictly prohibited in Lhasa. It was a great temptation feeling for me to launch. But just couldn't find a proper hiding place :(

Nice video, but sadly this sacred place seems to have been made into a museum for tourists.
When I visited Potala 40 years ago, there were no tourists, and the whole palace was open to walk anywhere I wanted - I actually got lost inside there at one point, the 1000 rooms are like a labyrinth.

Lucky you!! Now there's only a predetermined path to walk. And its super crowded.
