I am once again requesting u guys opinion about laptops.
I know VERY LITTLE ABOUT WHAT MAKES ONE BETTER
THAN ANOTHER..
OK, I fly a Mavic pro and I’m near future will have my 107
And an inspire 2...
In the past I had a windows laptop and it couldn’t even run
DJI assistant..
I think I want a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.
All I know is I need at least the i5 and even better i7 processors.
I want to be able to have good resolution on screen and be able to run the good editing programs it takes to make pro grade material.
If there is a compatible windows unit or something else please let me know in layman terms..
I would really like to keep it under $500 US dollars if possible.

I hear I need to running Catalina os on the MacBooks.
I would rather have a 13-15 inch screen and does the year model
Matter as long as it runs Catalina or above...

See I’m pretty illiterate when it comes to these things...
Please help
Thank u

It wouldnt be the fact that your laptop ran windows that was the problem only what was inside it.
Dont forget plenty of fast RAM to go with the i7 or i9, SSD and good GPU ;)
So the i5 just ain’t got it huh?
Even with the fast ram and ssd and cpu..
Wow look what I’ve learned already..
Now what is ssd?
So I need lots of storage right?
What’s good?

solid state drive...
try to get at least GPU with 8gb ram, 16gb better and a seperate GPU...graphic processor unit with 8gb min ram..
if you plan to edit 4k video the more the better to make things ez

What video codec do you plan to use? The codec video choice makes a great deal of difference to the requirements for any computer system.

See Dave Maine I have NO IDEA what u mean..
This is what I mean. I want to do professional videos/ pics..
I want to film and sell the footage to wakeboarding clients, motocross clients,
Real Estate clients, gps mapping, family gatherings/ weddings, graduation photos/ vids,
That type stuff.
Which codec do u suggest?

Ideally:
-Core i5 (8th, 9th or even 10th gen quad core - 4 brains and 4 things that act like brains)
-SSD (At least 256Gb)
-8Gb ram (or 16Gb)

$500 isn't a lot of cash.

Either way, you can grab Davinci Resolve for FREE and start editing.

i had the same problem and this is what I ended up with after much research..its a lenovo Yoga s 740...it was the best I coud find in my price range. runs everything great and will run DaVinci resolve also...

● Processor: 9th Gen Intel Core i7-9750H (6C / 12T, 2.6 / 4.5GHz, 12MB)
● Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64
● Display Type: 15.6" HDR 400 FHD (1920x1080) IPS 500nits Glossy
● Memory: 2 x 8GB DDR4-2666
● Hard Drive: 512GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q 4GB GDDR5

I use Corel Videostudio (costs around £60) for editing and, despite throwing a 9700k ninja computer at creating, I STILL need to enable the proxy option. Same for Davinci Resolve. It basically creates a lower resolution version of your media (4k, reduced to 720p) in order to allow lower end hardware to edit media. No matter what you throw at video creation, a proxy would probably still be required.

This means that you don't 'need' a 6 core machine, but everything helps! I'd rather go for more, than less every single time. A FAST SSD is essential.

Ideal video editing setup:

-Quad core (Faster single core turbo, the better)
-32Gb ram (Heck, why not. Spend that cash)
-Samsung SSDs.

3x M.2. drives. (I've messed with Raid 0 and found no real benefit)

You have your C: drive, that has the application installed.
You have your D: drive where your media sits, for editing
You have your E: drive where the proxy files sit and your finished file ends up.

Create the highest quality video you can. If you can record the video at 4K, do it! You can then create the video again as a 1080p version. Why? Time moves forward. That 720p video you created in 2004, now looks a bit small. If you'd have created it at 1080p, it would stand the test of time that bit better. Good luck.
