A short film of Lennox Castle just north of Glasgow, Scotland. Considering it’s history, this is a bit of an eerie place on a misty, grey autumn morning. Some appropriately spooky music from Eric Matyas.
For info: In 1927 the castle was purchased by Glasgow Corporation for £25,000, together with 1,222 acres of the Lennox Kincaid estate, as part of its plans to create a hospital for the mentally-ill. It has also been used as a nurses home and a maternity hospital. The hospital closed in phases from the 1990s until 2002, and all the buildings were then demolished, with the exception of the A-listed castle, to make way for housing. Celtic Football Club began building their Lennoxtown Training Ground on part of the site in 2006. The abandoned castle was badly damaged by fire in 2008.

Looks like an older building I am stated when you see trees growing out of the walls. Very nicely filmed video

Very beautiful.

(I like Eric Matyas's music too)

Nice vid Drumsagard. ??

Who “abandons a castle”? Surely someone would surely buy it (and the grounds) and maintain it?

Regards,
Terry
It was apparently sold to developers in 1993 who had plans to turn it in to flats, but nothing seems to have happened since then.

Very nice and thanks for the info. It's a shame to see these once stately building slowly degrade but also appreciate the huge cost to restore and maintain. Beautiful setting with the autumn tones.
