Question. It's well known that Phantom batteries occasionally burst into flames, usually when charging. People took precautions, like charging them only inside a fire-proof container. I haven't seen reports of any such incidents with the Mavic/Mavic 2 batteries. Is this due to a lower charging rate? Better battery design/quality? Not a big enough sample size?

Thanks

LIPO batts will sometimes catch fire from misuse overcharging puncturing during a heavy crash while in the UAV shorting out if they land in water the DJI intelligent batts have some built in protection to prevent this happening even so you should never leave batts unattended while they are charging just in case. all lipos have the ability to catch fire it is up to users to store charge and handle them with care to lesson the chance of this happening

That's very rare, and is usually related to damage from a crash. DJI's batteries have a very good reputation when it comes to safety.

there is a lesson to be learned there dont fly over a zoo and land in the tigers compound

It's due to the fact that all DJI batteries rarely catch on fire. In most cases, the batteries that catch on fire are those that are somehow damaged beforehand.

I never seen this well known fact about the Phantom batteries bursting into flames any more than any other batteries.

You have more chance of finding tigers in a zoo they are a bit thin on the ground in the wild
