Litchi ask for Internet connection every time it starts

I've both the Android and iOS version of Litchi. I found that on my iPhone, once I started Litchi for the first time, I can fly in airplane mode without the need to connect to DJI servers for verification again. However, my Android version keeps asking me to verify and keep disconnected when I put my phone in airplane mode. Is this normal? Does this mean that I cannot fly in remote places where there is no Internet connection?
