Hello all
I've been flying drones for past year. Both are home built and use a camera but believe the Mavic would improve flight possibilities and aerial photography. Started looking at Mavic fairly recently and am weighing pre-owned and new. Will be reading through the various posts to read what you have said about the pro and pro 2 .

Regards

Rick

I had the pro 1 and sold it when i got the pro 2.
the pro 1 is still a great piece of tech doing 12mp pics and 4k video with flights ranging 20-25 mins its also a touch smaller than the pro 2. camera though seems rather fragile does have i think it was 3x zoom

the pro 2 does 20mp pics and 4k video and they made it a touch bigger but still gets 25min plus flights and has added obstacle sensors and downward landing LED

price wise a new MP1 used kit is $600-900 where as new is still under the $1k mark. MP2 depending which RC you get new is over $1,500 and used are around $1,200

me though couldnt be happier with my purchase of the MP2

We posted this in a thread yesterday title Mavic vs Mavic 2. There were some additional links and resources posted to help compare the features as well:

"There are quite a number of differences actually. In general they have a similar size and shape, but after that it gets very different.

Cameras and Recording System:
12MP vs 20MP on Mavic 2 Pro and 12MPand optical zoom with Mavic 2 Zoom

Obstacle Avoidance
Much improved and more sensors on the Mavic 2 - including APAS which routes the drone around obstacles instead of just stopping the aircraft

Tracking and Flight Modes
Many improvements on Mavic 2

Flight Time
Mavic 2 gains a few extra minutes

Recording Bit Rate
Mavic 2 is able to send more video data for an improved image recording

Flight Range (not functional or reliable due to location variances)
8KM vs 7KM.(Mavic 2 has increased range)

There are a few more small items as well. Both drones are excellent - and as a first drone you can not go wrong with either one."

We have been building drones going back a good 10 years and would be happy to talk to you about some of the difference between home built vs ready to fly drones if you would like. Just let us know if we can help with your research (and of course we carry them all in stock and some used we we have taken in on trade as well).

Thanks!
