Why did DJI design Mavic series with no rear legs?

Probably weight savings and geometry for folding legs.

It's because of the way it is folded up. If there are rear legs, it will not be as compact as it is.

The Air 1 has got hind legs which can be accomodated because the arms of the Air 1 are very short. This will limit the length of the prop and hence it's efficiency.

It's a problem in long grass for sure. But I like the way it looks and functions
