Hehe yes, a working compass will always show magnetic north, and usually never have a problem with this task. The problem is of course to correct for the deviation to get true north (using the global model, which is now updating)

The attachment details the work of the military grade geologist - that worked out some of what happens... it seems that every half processional cycle the sun farts and blows us out a bit.. followed by 2 miles high world wide supersonic tsunamis which even M2P waterproofed would not survive!... but I digress... again!
