I asked about the "Android tablet charging from the controller" issue here, thinking it was just a setting but now I've read a bit it seems there's no real solution other than to charge the tablet right up before flying. I'm talking about the MP1, but I understand this issue happens with a few models?
Does the little micro USB port on the side also charge Android devices, or is it only the full size USB port at the bottom that does it?
If the micro USB port doesn't charge Android devices, what's to stop us cutting the little supplied cable in the middle and soldering in say a 6" length of multicore cable of some sort like phone cable so as to connect to the tablet from the micro USB on the controller.
I think I've got some grey multicore telecommunications cable there, and I've got some fine heatshrink tubing, solder etc to make a neat job of it. Has anyone tried that approach? At least you'd have the 90 degree plugs both ends, and the factory fit plug at the controller.
