As stated I only knew I was going to Malta the day before !
Horrified to see the Island was red Top to bottom
I could fly there but You need to register with an EASA operator and valid insurance.
Having ticked all the boxes I paid €10 for 2 months
Ok off we go but no each flight has to be approved either through an automatic system or through Transport Malta needing 5 working days for a response
Automatic means ticking all the boxes before everything turns green and your auto clearance is issued
Circling the flight area on a map rejected till my area was tiny then green
Right all good ??? not quite ! A flight agreement has to be signed ? 150 metres from structures / buildings
50 metres uninvolved people
Max height 60 metres
Distance 200 metres
Not only NO night flights but no flights before sunrise or after sunset
No flights over water with Port Aurthority approval etc etc
Anything else apply ! possible risk assessment and five days for response
So if you are thinking of flying your drone in Malta BEWARE

Way too much BS to deal with! I am going to Morrocco next month and will be leaving my drone at home after reading horror stories from others who brought drones and got caught!
