Mapping

what Is a good laptop for mapping. I have the mavic 3 enterprise.
That is a simple question but there is not a simple answer. Once you have your images downloaded from the UAV then you will need software to convert the image into a geo-referenced ortho-photo-mosaic. I use Agisoft Metashape V1.8.2 which does a great job. Pix4D also may do the same. As far as the laptop you need one with heaps of memory. A 20 minute flight over an irrigation canal will give about 1064 images and that takes about 20 mins to produce an ortho-photo-mosaic on a PC with 48gb of memory. So there is not really a cheap answer. The 1064 images were 60% forward overlap and 25% lateral overlap. If you are doing area mapping you will need to increase the lateral overlap. Have fun!

For mapping consider HD size, processor speed, & ram memory more specifically towards the application such as Agisoft. With my notebook, it may take me 12hrs to process an ortho. I also put the images on an external drive, because of the amount of space required.
