Maven app question - can I manually override the controls?

I just purchased Maven and I'm planning to take my first waypoint flight with it tomorrow. As I'm setting waypoints it occurred to me that I have no idea how tall some of the trees are in the area I'll be flying over. I've tried to set my waypoints high enough that I think I'll be above them, but if I guessed wrong will I be able to take over the controls manually once the Maven flight is underway? I would assume that's the case, but I'd hate to sit there and watch my drone crash into a tree and not be able to do anything about it...

You don't mention what DJI drone you are planning to use. I really like Mavic Maven with my Mini, especially the new Co-Pilot Mode with CableCam etc. It's like the Fly app's Quickshots but on steroids with stick altitude/orientation and camera control!

To cancel a mission push Stop (X) on the screen. The Mini and Air 2 cannot pause and restart a mission (others can) but Stop (X) cancels the mission.

** With the Mini or Air 2, the "Pause (II) Button" does not work. You also cannot Exit the Mission Screen while the mission is running and a signal loss will stop the Mission's autonomous flight. You have to first stop running the mission before exiting the Mission mode so you can't use VR and fly waypoints at the same time with the Mini and Air 2. **

Here's a screenshot of the manual. Suggest you do a very short test of with a mission just in front of you to gain confidence. You may want to check if pushing a stick while doing the test also stops the mission.

Thanks. I'm flying a Mavic Air 2, I forgot to mention that. I saw that part in the manual about not being able to pause a mission with the Air 2 - that's what got me thinking about override capability. As long as I can abort the mission and quickly take control if I need to, that's good enough I guess. It would be nice if manual stick input would immediately abort the mission too, since that's easier than trying to tap a button on the screen in a panic situation.

Good suggestion about trying a short mission in an open field first - I think I'll try that

I'm not familiar with Maven (actually the first time I've heard of it), but you might consider flying the mission manually first and keeping a record of the altitudes when you're at each of your waypoint locations. Just a thought.

Off topic ... what kind of Jeep do you have?
