Mavic 2 noise question

Has anyone noticed that the Mavic 2 (and any other Mav for all I know) is not really that loud when you do straight up thrust to gain altitude or straight down to descend, you can hardly hear it in fact. But when it hovers, that's when it gets really loud. Has anyone noticed that? Does this have something to do with how a sound wave carries? Any explanations suited for a layman?

Never noticed but if there is any wind the motors will speed up to hold position.

the sound you hear is simply changing air pressure which produces a frequency when hovering the pressure changes are condenced into one spot so it appears louder
