Can't get a replacement battery through dji so I'm looking for a third party battery. I read someplace that a software update prevents useing a non dji battery? Any suggestions on where to get one. I found batteries from Cameron Sino for the Mavic 2. Anyone know if their batteries would be OK? Thanks for any thoughts

I think you may find that this will depend on what firmware you have installed in the drone. The third party parts lockout seems to have been evolving for newer drones over the last 12 months or so and I'm guessing it will be implemented in a similar way to the anti-rollback function that stops all of us from being able to undo unwanted changes or factory reset our drones.

If you're operating on 0670, 0720 or 0770 firmware: you may be okay.

Not sure why dji would prevent useing a battery from a 3rd party if they (dji) aren't selling them.

Amazon has them.

There are some on Amazon in the DJI Store, but when you look at the listing, it's from third party sellers. They claim they are genuine...but who knows.

Let us know how the aftermarket one works out.

Amazon has DJI Mavic2 batteries sold by a vendor and fulfilled by Amazon.Any issue return to Amazon for prompt credit.

All the ones I looked at were actually from a 3rd party and not dji. Go to dji website and try to get one. Also under reviews people said when trying to return a battery amazon directed them to the vendor for any warenty issues. Not sure but that's what I read. Here is the one I got off ebay. Seems to work fine so far I have only done 2 flights so far to "condition battery". Doesn't look like it depleats the battery for storage on its own.

Offtheback, I didn't see a photo that you posted? Another thing I noticed about the one I purchased from ebay (the one I posted a pic of) is that it only charges to 91 percent. Says to charge and depleted it down to 25% two to three times which I did.

I looked on Amazon again and I did see the batteries from DJI. Said it would take from 3 to 7 weeks to get it though.

Did you try to send email to DJI customer service? it worked for me 3 months ago

No I didn't try that good idea though. I did go on dji store and didn't see them. However I did see dji mavic 2 batteries on Amazon but 3-7 weeks delivery. I'll see how this aftermarket one works.

Update on third party mavic 2 battery I got on ebay. 1) Battery does not drain automatically like its supposed to, 2) the battery would only charge to 91%, 3) drone lost all contact with remote controller and goggles. Luckily the drone returned to home. Gunna attempt to return it for a refund. Good luck to me. I have since been able to order a dji battery from Amazon.
