Dear amazing community ,
I don’t know if this has been discussed, please forgive me if it has. I am new to. D-log.

I just found out today that you can get lowest to 400 ISO when in D-log.

To be honest, I really don’t understand why.

But if I keep the 180 rule, and if I keep the advice from one of the persons that I learned from this forum, to keep the aperture between 2.5 and 3 max , I have only the ND filter to play with. So that means that in bright sun during the day for example in Greece I’ll be shooting in 32 or 60 4ND. ?

My exposure from what I understand needs to be at 0, or maybe slightly less -0.3 or so

Can you kind people provide me with some advice on what you think I should try?

But I must say, I’m very shocked and I don’t understand why you cannot go down to 100 iso

Best
Greg

The point of log is to capture more dynamic range, and to do that the sensor must be working in a certain optimal range. Bringing it down to 100 would wipe much of the benefit.
Some big cameras actually require 800 or even 3000 for max D/R in log...
