HI. I recently bought a 2nd hand Mavic Mini 1 and am having problems downloading the DJI Fly app to suit. Now that the Mavic 2 is out, is there a different app for the original 1 ?. Regards to all from "sunny" Cornwall.
Not that it is any consolation but you are not the first to be caught out by this and I doubt you will be the last. If you old phone is still otherwise perfectly servicable, have a look on ebay for compatible 2nd hand phones.Thanks. Have just realised that my new phone is not compatible (drat).
Thanks Dan Man. It is a new LG 42 but the app does not recognise it. My fault for not checking first .If it is a new model phone and has at least 3GB installed RAM, it should be compatible.
If it's an older model, then it might not be.
Thanks for all that. Yes, my age is correct. I will brood on it until after lockdown. In meantime start saving my pennies. It seems sad that you have to buy an expensive phone which will get very little use for an occasional hobby. Stay safe all.Not that it is any consolation but you are not the first to be caught out by this and I doubt you will be the last. Also consider carefully whether you want Android or IOS, phone or tablet.
Meaning no offence but if your age is correct a tablet might be better as they generally have bigger screens and ask on here about any screen device you are considering.
I agree which is why I went for the 2nd phone route. A samsung S6 cost me £70 to £90, I can't remember the exact price and not exactly cheap but a lot less than a new phone........ ennies. It seems sad that you have to buy an expensive phone.......
Thanks again. All interesting and relevant stuff. I did go that route; bought a used Samsung S7 and the battery died on me after 6 months, so have decided not to go second hand again - hence the new LG 42 which proved incompatible. The story of my life I'm afraid. Keep on taking the tablets........I agree which is why I went for the 2nd phone route. Unfortunately I don't think I'd get so lucky with a tablet but maybe I will have a look.
Android has the advantage ( for me) that I need not install the latest version of the app BUT has the disadvantage that it draws 0.5 amp from the controller and the MM has a 'small' battery in its controller.
Apple stuff does not have the current drain but you are forced to install the latest version of the app at the time you install it. The latest version 1.2.4 or maybe 1.2.5 may be a resource hog which requires a relatively fast, powerful and therefore more recent and therefore more expensive screen device.
Thanks for all your comments and support.I agree with what others have said, that a relatively cheap tablet is the best choice. I use a Lenovo tablet that cost about £75 on Amazon and it runs DJI Go for my Phantom 3 and DJI Fly for my Mavic Mini and the display gives my 74 year old eyes a lot more information than my phone does.
Yes... & the latest version is on DJI's web site, not in Google Play. Your device needs to be a full 64bit device to be compatible.... Am I right, I should be trying to download the DJI Fly app...
