In some ways both agree and disagree with you. I live in Canada and because of very strict drone regulations I have withheld from buying a drone over the past year despite my desires as the 249 g limit was always an important differentiator between having one that I could fly where I wanted and one that would require licensing exams and very strict restrictions that would ruin my enjoyment of drone flying.
I am in fact just ordered the Mavic mini one a few weeks ago on the Amazon prime day sale as getting drawn at that price that included the entire fly more combo was a great deal. However if this is going to be my only drone, I would want to have the best features possible knowing I do not have a larger drone to use in different situations. For me the most important feature that they added on the new mini is better wind resistance as this would mean I would have less limitations as to when and where I could fly it. The truth of the matter is that at level five wind resistance it should be comparable to the
Mavic air 2 according to the ratings.
Occusync while not really necessary for my needs means that at the very least the transmission signal should be a lot more stable even though I have no intention of flying it the distance is that her quoted.
And I agree that 4K I think it’s not really that necessary as personally it means much greater hardware requirements for video editing, and truthfully in a drone this size I think not so necessary. As I don’t think the image quality will look that but better give them the sensor is the same. However the ability to shoot in raw does seem to have some value as one can do a lot more with the image in post for photographers.
So in summary I agree with you that if you are a drone owner that has multiple drones already that there is no real need to upgrade from your mini one to this model but I think depending on what the final price will be it might be a worthwhile upgrade if you were buying for the first time compared to the original mini
