Mavic Mini cable from Remote Control

I'm trying to hook my mini up to my iPadpro but only the very short supplied cable works. I've bought adaptors, extenders and the like but nothing connects except the short cable supplied. Is the "reverse" micro USB only native to DJI cables? Sad to have wasted money and time sorting out such a basic connection. any advice appreciated
