Hey guys did a battery mod to my mavic and got 34 minutes total distance of 57414 ft. I used a Onyx 25c 4000mah Battery weight is 9oz or 255grams Temporarily mounted on top. Waiting for mount. Landed with 12%
I made my own power tap. Hope this helps with anyone needing battery info. I was in gps mode and speed was 18-23mph. Wind was light

@Ksj I like that setup nice and clean and don't have to take apart a battery or the mavic. Dose the connector you made stay tight in there since it's not soldered?

All that for only 6 more minutes? Sorry but new to this hobby. Does 6 more minutes really help anything?
Let me ask you essentially the same question, just a different way: Would the loss of 3 minutes from 13 down to 10 matter to you?

Ahhhhhh.... enlightenment!

Connector stays nice and snug. Have to use a little wiggle to push through the mavic spins. I used a very thin diamond cut off wheel on my dremel. Thickness is really close to the mavic pins. Then I soldered the open end as close as I could to fit.

Motors did not feel any warmer than usual One thing I did notice is the stock battery temperature was not as hot.
Thank you for the (detailed) contribution! Also have set up a " light" pack (2x 1800mAh) for an extended flight. Just need some time to play now..

Interested in that setup and the results of your test if possible...
Thanks in advance...

I really like how you made more room to move battery forward. This is great because typically the rear motors are spinning much higher rpm than the front. With your mod you can move the batteries more forward to balance the load on motors better. Great work!

So heres my problem, pretty basic, connected red to red, black to black, showing absolutely no flight time improvement running a Lihv 1800 Turnigy bolt. Expecting upwards of 30mins I got only 19min flying down to 7%. I checked the voltage through the connectors separately and both the stock battery and the turnigy bolt were very close on voltage. Any thoughts?

Must be windy. Battery mod doesn't gain you much if you're pushing motors too hard. Do another flight, but careful not to run up rpm/power too high. You should get 30 minutes or close to.

Mod itself looks good..no weird readings on the battery in the go app? 19 minutes is more like stock at 7% !
What is the voltage on the LiHv after this flight? Did it drain at all?
Edit: to what voltage did you charge the bolt initially?

Everything looked normal. It took 1063 mah on recharge so no way they were burned down to 7%. A little bit of wind yes.

By the way I did sever one wire on the balance connector on the factory pack while cutting open but was able to re-solder, battery had several flights without external battery to verify all was well.

Try another external battery. Sounds like this one has high internal resistance or it is bad. You only used a portion of its capacity.

with that setup you can go 3000 would be better.....i run twin 1800 to get 31 min, but yes if the wind is strong.....not a good test
