Mavic Pro Battery Mod

I've always been a big fan of pushing stock limits. My phantom was stock with the addition of the antenna mod. It blows me away the distance the Mavic can fly with nothing. I went out 21,000' today and it was rock solid. Video and Control. I want to push it out to its maximum. The battery is the weakest link.

Yeah I think so!

It's a great charger. I love mine. And about pushing the limits. The radio (occusync) is amazing. Today I went 6.2mi with stock rc. I had signal cutouts due to weather I believe and had to go up in altitude. But another time I did 5.2mi at like 40ft over water with no issues whatsoever.

It's hard to believe. It really is. DJI made something that actually does what it claims! lol.

I forgot to mention, I flew the 20,000+' with a max altitude of 67'! It seemed to me with my Phantoms, that I would steadily increase altitude on the way out, and steadily decrease on the way back. In both cases attempting to gain the best smooth trajectory. For some reason the Mavic seems at home low to the ground.

Lastly, I was asking DB the same questions, but I pushed the Mavic to its limit today. I landed with next to no battery left. I'm struggling to see what I could have changed to get beyond the record of 26,000'. I am going to try going a little faster and a little slower to see if it makes a difference.

Holy **** batman!!! I go off grid for a couple weeks and there are 50+ new pages on this thread. I made some popcorn, poured a pint, and settled in for a 2 hour read that was the single most entertaining geek event maybe in history. WOW!!!

You guys are the best and I absolutly love this hobby.

And now we have a scared santa and his wife motor mouth :)

I ordered 3000 and 4000 LiHv's from hobbyking on June 28 and they still show "processing from Hong Kong". Has anyone else been able to receive these recently?

oh yeah you missed a lot bean! you made it sound so exciting,I might go back and reread[emoji41]

You was gone just long enough to avoid ordering a titan battery , lucky you!

I would have been first in line wasting another $100 !!!

For the shear beauty, patience, and detail the troll used, my hats off to him for the scam of the year on mavicpilots. And we do have to give motor mouth props for calling a scam from the onset.

I was calling BS but biting my lip to give him the benefit of the doubt. I had previous experience with Titans on the P3 so I was pretty confident the same result would be with the Mavic. I just kept kindly pressuring him and asking for data. In the meantime, my inner demon purchased them just to prove him as a scammer.

I'm not sure he was trying to scam. I've chatted with that guy. He called me once long before titan battery fiasco to ask about mods. He just seemed like someone new to the hobby and excited to jump in. He was probably trying for bragging rights.

He pm'd me with his number right before I did the world record flight time test. I didn't want to get into an actual conversation about it with him on the phone. I mean I had him dead to rights... no need to talk about it on the phone...

I meant to post this here, inadvertently put on the antenna mod thread.

I bought the payload release kit from:

Gimbal-Guard

And just started to play around with ideas for the battery jettison idea. With little to no changes, you could literally hang the 5.2 LiHv from the mechanism and have it swinging in the wind. The drag from this would be considerable and a fair chance of it getting tangled in the wind. But in this thought experiment, I would make an educated guess that you could add a couple miles to a range run test and jettison the battery around the turn around point. Lube up the battery connectors with dielectric grease and the battery should come clean loose after the servo releases the load when the front lights are activated from the remote controller.

Something to ponder and continue to figure out a way to streamline this idea. If I can EVER get my LiHv's to ship from Hong Kong, I have a date with destiny to topple the great cybernate :)

I already bought a crashed mavic for parts so I can replace the motors after the new world record run.

Is that thing going to fly with all that crap on it?

I see negative benefit from that setup. The external battery will parallel the internal battery in battery remaining percentage. If you drop the battery at the turn, it will have 50-60 percentage remaining. nothing gained. You lose by having the extra weight of release mechanism.
