Hello all. I was recently flying my drone when it feel to the ground like a rock. The drone seems to be fine, but it did fall directly on the camera and the nd lens is cracked. Upon further inspection it appears the battery swelled and disconnected from the contacts, causing a complete and instant power failure. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

DJI does not warranty the batteries for a year, only six months, which was not my understanding. I'm going to have to buy a new battery and nd lens out of pocket. I feel fortunate it wasn't worse. Had the drone been at a higher elevation there would be more serious problems. The drone, without any warning, just crashed to the ground.

How can that information be obtained?

Lol, terrible.
I might have similar issues. The battery (one particular battery) is overheating.
Is there a way to repair?

Is it just me or do a lot of you guys and girls actively check your batt telemitry during your flight!! I can't help but believe that there were tail tail signs that the batts health was compromised..

When people have issues with the battery, it's because they probably wasted most of the time the battery to 0% which is unhealthy and will damage the battery. I always fly and keep the battery at 30%.

I fly mine to 30%, except every tenth time. The manual says the batteries should be completely discharged every ten cycles.

Remember 0% (let's say 1% so we don't confuse sub 0% that still shows 0) is not a problem. You're still sufficiently above the LIPO's characteristic danger voltage.

I'm really not sure about the percentage. Basically, I let the drone idle until the battery shut off. I'm not sure what the percentage was when it shut down. I would imagine there must be something inside that functions like a diode to power the intelligent circuitry. Any ideas why all four batteries would fail at the same time?

Draining your batteries to 0 every 10 flight will lead to puffing and disconnections. Where in any manual did you read that its good to discharge them completely ? do you have a link to that

No where in my version of the manual and not recommended in any lipo care I’ve ever seen. Maybe in the old days of NiCd batteries.

Actually the concept of discharging to low % wasn't for the cells themselves but rather for the electronics to get a baseline of the battery's charge capacity characteristics so as to be more accurate on providing % SoC. Voltage and coulomb count by themselves isn't accurate. The newest chips used aren't as prone to miscalculation.
