Upgrade the iOS to the newest version. My iPad mini 4 works well with Fly and Go4. Your Mini 5 should be fine.

Yes, I have a Platinum and recently purchased Ipad mini 5 (64gb) WiFi. Works great together with Go4. Flightrecords stored on iPad, can be downloaded to PC for Google Earth viewing.
